Average local employment grew in 2023 after inconsistent growth over past half-decade

Some Canadians will pay more to use their cellphones while travelling abroad beginning next week. Telus and Bell say they are raising roaming rates, effective March 8 and 9, respectively.

TikTok has been in the spotlight this week after the federal government announced it was banning the social media app from its devices days after Canadian privacy commissioners began investigating the company.

"Effective immediately, the TikTok app will not be permitted from government-issued mobile devices," says Minister of Citizens' Services Lisa Beare.

Federal and several provincial privacy authorities say they will jointly investigate TikTok. The Privacy Commissioner of Canada says it has teamed up with the offices of the information and privacy commissioners in B.C.

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc. reported its fourth-quarter profit and sales were up compared with a year earlier. The company, which keeps its books in U.S. dollars, reported a profit of $45.
